Let's start again, and this thread should be a bit quicker (until it gets to its 20th page or so!)

I'll kick things off with my favourite cover of "Hallelujah" by one of my favourites, Jeff Buckley. RIP Jeff. =((

My first post on the new thread has to be Marillion again, they were a good band to see live and at around this time I was just a kid but now I'd have been given the right to vote :)

Here's a video I put together myself this June and have been listening to ever since - using audience video footage recorded at a Paris concert and posted to YouTube, mixed with sound I recorded and remastered myself at the gig. It's a reworking of a 1969 Syd Barrett setting of words by James Joyce.

I managed to put together an almost complete DVD of the concert (as well as produce a complete live CD). Happily the band apparently approved enough of my private endeavours sufficiently to accept copies of both discs and sign my own copy of the live CD! :-)

Here's where I take the place of the drummer in a band photo (I'm the one wearing the band t-shirt...)

Here's another from that Paris Slowdive show. A bit noisier this time, musically speaking.

I had a handheld 24-bit audio recorder with me, found the best spot in the auditorium and recorded it from there. The end result I put on a private CD has to be one of the few "bootleg" recordings around that's been signed by the band in question - mind you between them and their tour manager they own the vast majority of copies in existence...

I met the band in 1991 when I was at the BBC, and managed to talk my way in to see them before the gig in Paris. Saw them again in St. Malo and got some great photos there, thanks to guest access arranged by their guitarist.

Catch the concert (it was on 22 October) on the BBC red button service if you have it, or listen to it on the Radio 2 website.

Don't worry this is not like my usual stuff! :-o

You might like this. It's like a sort of laid-back Pink Floyd!
