Basil, yep I've liked ever since I first heard an album at uni. so for a longer time than I care to work out ! Certainly would be someone I'd love to have a chance meeting with.

I didn't know about the new album coming so so thanks for that bit of info, I'll look out for that.

ps all the embedded YouTube links are showing up on my ipad now, must have something wrong at this end before.

We have already had some electric Miles but you can't have too much really and I've been listening to a lot of the early electric stuff recently.
This is Spanish Key from the Isle of Wight Festival 1970

Possibly we need a little lightness now and I've also been listening to Aztec Camera

Morrissey has become a bit of a twat, though. :(

That's for sure.

Our best friends from way back in school days bought 6 tickets for 3 couples to go to Hyde Park to see the Rolling Stones last July. Seems incredible that the first time I and one of the other people out of the 6 saw them was when we were still at school in 1965 and our music teacher, Mr Barratt on knowing we had seen them at Richmond Athletic Ground (Rugby ground) at the Jazz Festival (now long since been held in Reading) at the weekend, was happily telling us that they would not be about in a few years time. Well Mr Barratt, if you are still on this earth and I hope you are, I wonder if you ever look back and remember that day :D

After the gig all the way down Oxford Street all you could hear was "wooo hoo" coming from all the crowd leaving the park.

This was a great day, even though we caught the wrong train later!!

To be fair to Mr Barratt, Mick and the others didn't think they would last more than two or three years either :)
I saw them in a northern Gaumont cinema in 1963 opening for the Everly Brothers, Little Richard and Bo Diddlely.
I'd just bought their single of a cover of a Chuck Berry song. I was fourteen.......

Peakes Le chants des Partisans, took me back to my years (mid 60's through to 1972) outside Barcelona. The version I have put on is not the one sung softly in the small Catalan bars and bodegas which was the true song which more than once my friends and I struggled to keep our emotions in check, such was the devastation we saw so clearly in families that had all lost lost family members to the fascists.

I am still making visits to the Sons, Daughter and Grand children from those often tense days when you never knew who was who and on what side, were they secret police, were they out of uniform Guardia Civil, or just town spies, all playing their parts to ensure that the Catalans were kept in check. Franco knew tourism was important and for the greater part, tourists were not too troubled too much, as long as they behaved and knew how to dress on and off the beach.

Anyway, it was to be either Christy Moore, or this one by the inimitable Ronnie Drew.

Nice one, Basil.

Led Zepp IV was my favourite for years, but I go back to II more often than not, nowadays. Of course, no Sandy Denny.

Good Morning All.

Some Richard and Linda Thompson for a cheery start to the day. His guitar playing technique always leaves me awestruck.

Peake, I enjoyed listening to your list of songs today, I'd have liked to have added one extra one that I then looked for.

In 1968 just South of Barca, the town where I was living was just starting to get tourists in numbers. Jobs were easy to find and bars were always looking for staff and in particular entertainers. One day this chap in the video arrived with some friends in an old van (VW I think) and Vin Garbutt played in a few bars that some of us drunk in. In the short time he was there, we formed a friendship and that was some 46 years ago now. since then Vin has become a cult figure in the World of folk music. Look him up, lots on google/youtube. I nearly saw him the other year at a folk club in Arundel but snow and an early ferry back to France the next morning prevented us getting there.

Anyway here he is:
