I might be wrong but it sure looks like the great Gene Vincent, who I went to see as a 14 year old lad (went there with Dads jacket on and a fag hanging out my lips to convince the doorman I was 16 !!) when he played at a local rock club

Wrong this time Basil, Gene Vincent always wore a leather jacket, as he did when when I saw him at either ( memory failure) the Granada or Odeon Tooting. In fact I've still got the album "Blue Jean Bop". Quite amazing to think now; that in those days Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard both played the same venue. Bill Hayley we saw at the Davis theatre Croydon, had to save up for the ticket, £1

For sure he did when in the UK, he did the night I saw him but what about in the USA in the early days, plenty of videos with him wearing other kinds of jacket, plenty in white as well and the geezers got the same look and barnet?

keytothehighway, so who were we looking at regarding the Joanna player?

Back in the day, for me from around 1966 onwards down Twickenham, Richmond, Putney way, we would regularly see Sonny Rollins. John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, Howling Wolf and more. These men were thought more of in the UK in those years, than they were in their native USA

Does anyone else use an ipad to look on here? If so, do these pages open with the links all showing up okay for them?

Enjoying the links on here when I get to the laptop though.

That was the problem, I hadn't bothered to update mine, did it last night and now everything works fine on this page, thanks.

Basil, when I see clips like that one, I always think it would have been a nice to be around, they all look so nice :) clean shaven, tidy... and happy.

Well it is Sunday morning so maybe some of this just to start the day :)

datz, it only worked for me once so I updated, a few things are different on it now and it was a bit kind of quirky at first but seems to have sorted itself out.

Not an oldie

Jeff Buckley's version and the only one that comes close to the writers.
Incidentally the French believe it was written by him.

DaveW, I spoke to soon, I can see the pictures to click on with the ipad now but last night I spent about 30 minutes trying to put a link up and failed. It just kept saying problem with the page and it needs to reload it. The ipad nearly got flung in the bath out of frustration so if you have any suggestions my ipad would appreciate it before it dies an early death. Thanks.

Basil - I have to thank you, ?Dick Smith, and someone called Blue Digga (he had a different name on here, can't remember it, posted in the Cycling forum) for introducing me to Bob Dylan.
On the other forum, and on here.
I had heard of him, but because of a big gap in the years of my musical education had never listened to him.
Since then, I didn't know what I was missing!

Woo hooo Woo hoo

We were treated last July by some really good friends to the 2nd concert on July 13th at Hyde Park, which meant that we had seen the Stones since almost the beginning in Twickenham until last year. Incredible day and a great end when a good percentage of the huge crowd funneled down Oxford street to the tube station almost everyone giving it Woo Hoo.

I still keep in constant touch with Dick on FB, he has a place over in Normandy and we meet up every so often for lunch.

So glad you like him, Pat, he represents what has happened to music ever since. Now we still have Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, James Taylor, Tom Waits, The Boss and some more to go.... ;)

This might just work, if I go real slow the page fully loads otherwise I whizz down to an empty screen, there is a quite a significant delay after pressing the YouTube link but it came, so will it go up...

I did say my taste was eclectic.

We're going to lock this thread and start a new one. It's getting too long, and this could be part of the problem ....

You'll still be able to view postings on here (if you have enough patience!), but no more additions - go to the new one.

:)
