Yep - we'll be in St Malo :-bd Let's hope it's windy \:D/
Perhaps I should modify that - Finistère will suffer if there's a westerly gale but a northerly breeze should see some good photo opportunities on the north coast !

Perhaps I should start sewing sandbag now!
The road at the end of us was flooded last January, and that was not as big a co-ef.

Yes, Scooby - and move any precious stuff upstairs before it happens and park your car on high ground !
Make sure you've got some wellies handy - or better still some waders (I'm sure your fisher friends will lend you some).
Seriously - hope you don't have any problems :YMPRAY:

It comes with the new moon coinciding with the time when the moon is closest to the earth - quite scarey the power that can have on the earth.
Hope you keep dry Scooby.
I lived on the coast for a long time and we had some dramatic high tides, but not so bad on the east coast of England - the west seems to get the worst.

Mont St Michel should look good too, properly surrounded by water.

Apparently, there are 12 celestial bodies that are monitored as they can affect the tides to a greater or lesser extent.

Also, this year we are due several high tides like this.

The low tides are always spectacular too - and quite often overlooked. We have a fab beach that only appears during exceptional low tides.

looks tropical?

Glorious colours - yes, could be tropical !
Hope to see a load more rocks uncovered at dead low tide in St Malo - they're all completely covered at high tide.

If you've got a thousand euro to spare, there's a aerial photo-tour on offer for the low-high tide around le Mont St. Michel ...

That would be worth seeing ! They showed aerial film of last month's high tide and the Mont looked spectacular.

On a sobering note, Please everyone deciding to visit be careful. The sea is a formidable force and the swell is really dangerous, especially in rocky areas. These two unfortunate tourists paid for that 'ultimate cool wave photo' with their lives here last year.
The father has never been found.

People can be very stupid in their desire to get close to the waves - some even have small children with them. Fortunately I have a good zoom lens and anyway, I don't want to risk it getting splashed with salty water !!!

I hope to go down to the low water mark and take some photos towards the land - if it looks interesting enough ! It also depends what the sand out there is like - I don't want to slither about too much
Fortunately the tide doesn't come in at the speed it does in the bay of Le Mont St Michel
