Does anyone on this forum do dressmaking or tailoring ..... ?

I would like to buy a dressmaker's dummy and I would be very interested if anyone can recommend a particular make. I know they aren't cheap but there's nothin on Le Bon Coin.

Can't recommend but I've seen them in Retif.

They're rather nice, Scooby, but I need an adjustable one. I'm fed up with clothes that don't fit properly and a correctly adjusted dummy should make altering or creating a lot easier.
One of my resolutions on moving was to look for a dummy !

It's one of the things my Mum always wanted & never had, she was a brilliant dressmaker nevertheless.

I wish you had asked last year. I had three and gave two away to Emmaus!
To be honest the adjustable ones still need tweaking, as the places where they "adjust" never seem to be in the right places. You still have to pad them out here and there.
How "handy" are you? You may want to try This.

That's a shame, Mandy :( It's always the way though !

I had already planned to customise a dummy by putting a stuffed bra on it (don't anyone dare laugh ..... [-x ) as all ready made clothes assume that if you have any sort of bust that you must be big everywhere else X(

Way back when I was an apprentice, one of our instructors said how he made a tailors dummy for his wife

He said that he got his wife to change into a swim suit, while he made up a bath full of paper mâché, and plastered that all over her, front first, then the back, when it had dried, he then used the "female" moulds, to make another paper mâché mould, the same size as she was

The way he described it together with his wife's comments, as he slaped the wet paper mâché on her, had us all in stitches laughing
