I am having a browse over on TF, and came across this and wanted to share it and to thank Sylvia.
I am not sure if she is a member here, I am unable to thank her there.

I got it from James Michener and it helped me when I was getting started. It's a technique called "fast writing" or "invisible writing" where you write without stopping and without looking at what you're writing (some writers turn off their screens so they can't see what they are typing, some writers dictate into a dictaphone so there is no spelling/grammar/punctuation "fears" to impede the flow). It's not meant for anyone to read it at this stage. You come back, comb through it and edit it into shape for a first draft, and then the successive re-writes after that.

Hope those who write, or who want to write and who haven't seen this find it useful. I liked it. Thanks Sylvia.
(perhaps someone who is a member can thank her in the thread on my behalf, merci).

Off topic: Kathy, BTW, very interesting blog. You may find some interesting info about touch here:
http://www6.miami.edu/touch-research/About.html

I did a little writing work for Dr. Field when I was a grad student at the U. of Miami. At the time they were publishing the results of the study on premature babies. Touch made a very significant difference in the ability of the little babies to gain weight faster. It was fascinating. They had also researched Shantala (Indian baby massage).

PS: Give Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance another chance... it's not an easy read, I know, but it gives you an insight into the workings of a bipolar mind. Tough stuff.
