Hi, can anyone recommend a Satellite Installer in the Bellac (87) area.
The dish is fitted and wired up, I have just lost the will to live trying to align.
Thanks,

Bob.

Hi Bob,

Are you installing the parabol for the first time? If so, is it for UK TV and have you made sure that the parabol is large enough for where you are? Is there a large tree directly in line of site of the satellite? If it’s a new set up, ignore the following.

If it’s an old setup that has suddenly stopped working, has the parabol moved causing your problem? Or could it be the LNB that has stopped working?

I had a problem with mine about 8/9 years ago. I couldn’t realign it, so I bought a cheap gadget to help me find the signal off eBay. I still had nothing, so I called out a local company. The LNB had stopped working. They charged me 100€ for the call out and 40€ for the LNB.

A good LNB can be bought off of Amazon.fr for 20€ or less.

I have to say that I know nothing about satellite and parabols - my only knowledge is from experience and friends who have had problems.

Thank you both for your replies and peake for the welcome. I will get in contact with bigsatdish and see if they are willing to do just the alignment.
Old_boots, it is a new installation, new dish, etc for English free-view. It was pointing vaguely in the right direction, no obstructions, then I tried a sat finder, but contacted more aliens than Astra Satellites. After spending many an unhappy hour on the roof I decided to get someone in that knew what they were doing.
Thanks again.

You still haven't said what size the dish is ?

This might help you point it.

Hi Bob B. A belated welcome to the forum!

Probably a daft suggestion, but make sure the cables are screwed in tight (OH's suggestion), as if not that can be enough to stop the signal being picked up.

Hmmm, 60cms seems a wee bit on the small side, what are others in your area using ?

If you are looking to get UK hd tv you will need a meter dish.

I think ours is 1.20 m.
When they switched to the new satellite there was a map online of the scope and strength of the reception, which implied the size of dish needed.
I've had a look but can't find the correct link.
Husband was a TV engineer and has set up and re-aligned dishes for some people, but too far from the OP.

Dish requirements vary because the satellite footprint is not linear.

85cm does the job here in 46 Northern Midi-Pyrenees that's why I said to look what others are using in the area.
