Hi all,
We receive French Terrestrial TV through a dish, and either as a result of the SD/HD changes, or because the decoder has just given up - or both - we no longer can. Can anyone recommend a decent box to replace the decoder please.

Thanks in advance

Are you sure it's the box and not the dish (or wiring)? The dish can go out of alignment, and the LNB receiver module on it can also fail.

If it's definitely the box then I'd consider getting one from your Internet Service Provider. We're with Orange and have an Orange TV box. It's rented so if it fails we can quickly and easily replace it.

Thanks Andrew.
TBH, I haven't checked the cables and dish alignment. The box gives an "error" message, but that could be anything I suppose. I'll check.

Is the box and LNB set up for digital reception?

I didn't realise the LNB could be digi/analogue Andy, so I'd guess its probably analogue only. I'll check that. Can you suggest a reasonable digital decoder too?

Thanks.

Like Andrew I get French TV via Orange - maybe not the best and certainly not the cheapest but for the range of channels it seems a good deal based on French offerings.

As most people know who have a French satellite set up it changed to HD last year, we had subscribed to canalsat for years and when changing my digibox ( to a vu duo2) contacted them to confirm if the one I wanted was compatible with them, yes they said but as they changed I more and more lost channels.
Did they care? not a bit so I cancel my contract as I could no longer receive any channels, took six months for them to at last end my contract and researching on the web there were about 55000 in the same position as me, all with card only.
If you have a universal lnb it should receive everything up there. We do with a motorised dish. UK, AL, SP, IT, IR.
We now have fransat for French channels, one of the two free to air hd sat providers other being TNT,. All in HD with no sub at all.I can upgrade to beinsport for 10 euro a month or film channels for the same.
Seems that canal plus/canalsat is in great financial probs and looks like shuttling down
