Recently our 2 year old Cybest Fransat decoder went belly up and the original supplier no longer stocks them.

After a trawl round Perigueux yesterday not one single salesman could assure me that their Fransat boxes could receive signals from another satellite if pointed appropriately.

They seemed astonished that our old one, which I took with me, could be switched from one dish to another if connected to a dual connecter.

Anyway they were all too expensive for us so we came back empty handed but I have just found a cheapo one online, a Thomson TH402, but once again the only satellite mentioned is Atlantic Bird.

Anyone know if all Fransat boxes will receive signals from other satellites?

After receiving more info from my original supplier I have ordered online a Sedea SF 3000, which is an SD model, specifically mentions that it works with any satellite and its channels, and with a 3 year guarantee.

At €69.90 it is considerably cheaper than anything I saw in the shops on Monday and only 20 odd dearer than the cheapo Thomson that I saw at C Discount online, but without any mention of other satellites and with only a 1 year guarantee.

If the one that has just packed in had a similar warranty I would have had a new replacement by now. It was the 2nd one which I have had which packed up after 2 years.
