Are there any pitfalls to installing a WC obtained in the UK? UK soil pipe always seems to be listed as 110mm whereas in France it is 100mm. Would a French pan connector fit a UK WC?

Welcome to TFF Ron, must admit that I'm not upto date with UK sanitary fittings, but plumbing was my game in the UK

Where do you want me to start and finish

If the cistern is the old style with a displacer plate syphon, (turn a handle to flush the toilet) you cannot get replacement parts in France, for the syphon, the ballvalve in a French cistern is 3/8" as against 1/2" in the UK again no spares for the ballvalve. What are you going to do with the overflow hole, because the crown of the syphon is above the overflow hole in France. If the ballvalve is letting by, the excess water runs down the drop valve tube and into the pan, hence no overflow pipe running to the outside of the property

The UK pvc pipe is 110 mm, French pvc soil pipe is 100 mm, you can get adaptors 100 mm to 110 mm if you know where to look in France

The outgo of UK the pan should fit into a French pan connector, but if you are still worried you could always get a Multiquick in the UK with the tail made for 100 mm pvc tube, but you might have to order this up, as a special

On the other hand if the cistern is a push button flush, there should be no problems about connecting the w/c to 100 mm pvc soil pipe
