Venus, you'll always find it hanging around at sunset.

If you used the iPad App 'Star Walk', you can pinpoint all the stars in front of you day or night !

I have used the HNsky program, free download for years, It shows the night sky with all the planets, constellations, meteors and even major orbiting satellites, in real time.
you can even download one which will control a telescope if that's your inclination. :D (*)

Spooky - I downloaded that this morning on a recommendation from another forum. Even accompanied by background musak, good isn't it?

The good Dr and have had astronomical software for many years before there was such a thing as an iPhone. Well, I have, and I guess he had too. I also have a copy of software which can control my telescope if I so wish.

Funnily enough, he wasn't asking the question, "How does one know?" which was what was answered, but "How do YOU know?" aimed at me, as I am, what shall we say, not a morning person! :ymblushing:

As it happens, Dr, I read about it. Also, as accident would have it, I sometimes have to get up at all hours with the dog (if she's not well) and I have seen it. :o
